Finally, Easy Layouts in FCPX with Grid Pop

Written by Published in Uncategorized

Anyone who’s tried to arrange, well, anything in Final Cut Pro has discovered one of the program’s biggest issues:

FCPX has NO tools to help arrange, distribute or align video clips. And that’s no bueno. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a nifty fcpx plugin to help with that?

With Grid Pop, what once was a Herculean task can now be accomplished with one simple plugin and a quick drag of the mouse.

Check out this quick video to see what I’m talking about:

What is Grid Pop?

I’m all about simplicity, and it doesn’t get much more simple than Grid Pop. I mean, it does exactly what the name says—making it easy to POP clips into GRIDS like a pro.

I discovered a while ago that if I ever needed to arrange clips in my projects, I was going to need either a ruler or the patience of a saint. After a lot of trial and error, I came up with Grid Pop…because seriously, I just don’t have time for that. And neither do you.

Grid Pop comes packed with 56 effects and 6 generators, letting you effortlessly arrange anything—pics, clips, graphics, logos and titles.

Grid Pop has saved my bacon so many times that I really couldn’t imagine using FCP without it.

Why Grid Pop?

Once you’ve tried Grid Pop, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. Grid Pop might be for you if:

  1. You value your time and money, and don’t want to spend hours trying to align stuff in your videos by hand
  2. You want to turn a cluttered mess into a beautiful, perfectly aligned masterpiece
  3. You don’t like the idea of banging your head against a desk and crying yourself to sleep after failing over and over again to line up your clips just right

Yes, there may have been a few nights before the invention of Grid Pop spent sobbing into my pillow. But those dark days are behind us!

Installing and using Grid Pop is fast and easy

Grid Pop and its other Stupid Raisins cousins are available through the awesome (and free) FxFactory engine. If you’re on the fence about Grid Pop, I highly suggest you download the free demo and give it a whirl.

After you fall in love with it, you can download the full version directly from Final Cut Pro. Find Grid Pop under Effects, category name ‘Stupid Raisins Grid Pop.’

To use Grid Pop, just plop it right into your project timeline and use its generators to lay out multiple elements in perfect harmony.

Look, I’m not saying Grid Pop is life-changing or anything…but it kind of is.
