What is this?
This is a free Final Cut Pro X fade in and out effect. Sometimes I need a quick fade and I don’t want to use transitions so I made an effect that I use often in FCPX.
How do you install it?
After you’ve downloaded the template, follow these instructions to install.
- Unzip FadeInandOut.zip.
- In Finder, go to Home>Movies>Motion Templates>Effects.
- Create a folder called Stupid Raisins.
- Drag and drop the unzipped Fade In and Out folder into the Stupid Raisins folder.
- Restart FCPX and you’re good to go.
If you don’t have the Motion Templates or Effects folders, simply create them yourself and then create the Stupid Raisins folder.
Select the Effects folder you just made and press Command+I. Under Name and Extension add extension “.localized” and press enter. Restart FCPX and you’re good to go.
How do you use it?
In Final Cut Pro X (10.2 or newer) click on the Effects browser. Select Stupid Raisins category and then drag and drop the effect onto a clip on your timeline.
Using the inspector you can change the fade in, out, start and stop times. For more details, take a look at the above video.
